Law and History, the Stanford Humanities Center Blokker Research Workshop, brings together faculty, graduate students, and senior researchers from Stanford and beyond who share an interest in legal history. It meets approximately four times every Quarter, usually on Monday evenings from 5:30-7:30PM, over dinner. Meetings are usually held in Building 200, Room 307 (Lane History Corner, Main Quad).

The themes for the 2007-8 year are “Revolutionary and Popular Justice” (Fall) and “Reparations and Restitution” (Winter and Spring). We will be discussing a wide range of regions and historical periods over the course of the year. Meetings take the form of an informal discussion led by an invited presenter, who circulates reading material for participants to read in advance of the meeting.

If you would like to be added to our mailing list, or have any queries or suggestions, please email the Graduate Student Coordinator, Peter Samuels.

The Law and History Workshop is sponsored by the Stanford Humanities Center and is made possible by support from Joanne Blokker, the Mericos Foundation, the Mellon Foundation, the National Endowment for the Humanities, and the Stanford University Dean of Research.
